5th Grade GATE Mustangs spent their March GATE Day working with teachers and student leaders in the Agriculture Department at RCHS.
One of the projects GATE students have been working on is a Kentucky Native Bird Conservation Project. Mr. Mink's Ag Construction student leaders helped GATE students build nesting boxes for the Eastern Bluebird. GATE students will place their nesting boxes in their neighborhoods and help create a safe and secure space for Eastern Bluebirds to raise their young.
After building their nesting boxes, GATE students participated in a lesson with Mr. Whitaker focused on propagation. He walked students through the process of propagating a variety of plants. Afterwards, each student propagated two of their own plants to take home. Before leaving Mr. Whitaker taught students how to take care of and maintain their new plants.

Thanks to a generous grant, MVES FRC was able to bring Kentucky Shakespeare to our school! Our fourth and fifth grade Mustangs had an amazing time watching a live performance about Kentucky history. It was a fun and engaging way to bring the past to life! Thank you, Kentucky Shakespeare, for an unforgettable experience!

A Sweet Lesson in History!
Mrs. Bobbie’s fifth grade homeroom enjoyed a special visit from Dr. Carrie Ballinger to learn about the growing and production of molasses. Dr. Ballinger shared how her family has been carrying on this tradition for over 200 years, passing down the knowledge and hard work from generation to generation.

Congratulations to Gunner Mize for being selected as the MVES representative for the FRYSC Coalition of KY Legislative Page Days! This incredible opportunity allowed Gunner to experience a real-life civic lesson by actively participating in a session of the 2025 KY General Assembly.
On February 27th, Gunner, along with his parents, Brian and Courtney Mize, traveled to the Capitol, where he proudly served as a Legislative Page in the House or Senate chamber. We are so proud of Gunner for representing MVES in this prestigious role!
