RockIT Tech News - November 2024

ALL CHROMEBOOKS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE SOON

Student and teacher Chromebooks will start automatically receiving the Chrome Operating System version 127 update.

This will begin on November 13th and updates will be randomly spread out over the course of 5 days.

All users will be reminded to restart their device after the update is installed.

AIRPLAY ENABLED AT RCHS AND RCMS

Apple AirPlay is now enabled on ViewBoards at RCHS and RCMS, allowing teachers to mirror their screen for the whole classroom.

Teachers can also use myviewboard.com/display to wirelessly connect their Chromebook to their interactive flat panel.

We hope these additional control options provide you with even more flexibility to best serve your students.

STUDENT REMOVABLE STORAGE DISABLED

RockIT has enabled a security feature on student Chromebooks that automatically disables removable storage, such as flash drives and SD cards, on all student devices.

Any removable storage media that is inserted into a student Chromebook will no longer be detected.

This change enhances security not only on the student devices themselves, but for the network as a whole.

RCHS STUDENT PASSWORDS AND GOOGLE SINGLE SIGN-ON FOR INFINITE CAMPUS

On the 25th and 26th of this month, RCHS students will have the opportunity to reset their login/email passwords to a password of their choice.

New passwords must be at least 9 characters long.

Students will also be able to log in to their Infinite Campus Student Portal using Google Single Sign-On.

This initiative helps Rockcastle County Schools take the next step in securing student accounts and protecting student information, while also simplifying the login process.
