The RockIT team is busy this summer.

Some of our current projects include:

• Working on extending our fiber network to the new ROCK building

• Cleaning, wiping, updating, and repairing our full fleet of roughly 3500 Chromebooks

• Upgrading the PLTW Lab at RCHS with 30 new desktop computers

• Fully replacing the Business Lab at RATC with new PCs, monitors, keyboards, and mice

• Exchanging outdated RCMS staff desktops with 32" docking monitors and new Chromebooks

We are planning a major systemwide update for all district Windows devices.

We will move from our existing on-premises domain and McAfee Antivirus to the cloud-based Microsoft EntraID, Microsoft Intune, and Windows Defender for Endpoint systems.

This change will allow us to more effectively oversee and secure our fleet of Windows devices. With cloud-based identity management, modern endpoint management, and enterprise-grade advanced threat detection, this suite of tools provides us with scalability and flexibility moving forward.

Moving from on-prem AD and McAfee to Entra ID, Intune, and Windows Defender is not just an upgrade—it’s a strategic shift toward a secure, modern, and manageable IT environment.

Due to the passing of Kentucky Senate Bill 181, RCS staff will only be allowed to use Apptegy Rooms and official RCS email accounts to communicate with students and parents beginning June 27th.

Apptegy Rooms is a two-way messaging solution that is directly integrated into the RCS app.

Mrs. Savanna Howell has several staff training dates scheduled for teachers who will need to begin using Rooms before the June 27th deadline.

More trainings will be available in the future.

The TeachMeet educational technology conference for the southeastern region will be at Pulaski County High School on July 15th.
